Captain Valentine Tongo is a seasoned airline pilot with over 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry as the Founder/CEO of his own Cargo Airline business – Allied Air Ltd in 1988. Allied Air is a world class all cargo airline committed to quality and dependable cargo delivery standards as well as an exemplary air safety culture. In 2015, Captain Tongo successfully led his management team through the very rigorous IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and today the airline is the first all-cargo airline to receive this certification in Africa. The Airline is fully authorized and recognized by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority as a National Flag Carrier and is also the Designated Cargo Airline on numerous routes across Africa.

Allied Air is proud to have several world class companies as regular clients/customers. It represents DHL within West and Central Africa and as of today is the sole carrier for the Central Bank of Nigeria for the daily transportation of sensitive security materials, currency and equipment, to name a few of its illustrious clients. Allied Air boasts an impressive Transit Cargo and Warehousing Facilities equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

In 1998, Captain Tongo was part of the team in the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria which took up the responsibility of restructuring the Nigerian airports and improving its facade to meet international standards. Among his achievements during this period are the purchase of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) for nineteen airports in the federation.

In 2007, Captain Tongo was a member of the ministerial committee on Aviation which was charged with the responsibility of monitoring fuel safety standards, looking into existing and proposed sites and working conditions of the fuel hydrant systems at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos as well as monitoring aviation fuel pricing.

Captain Tongo was a Board member of Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) until 2012.

In October 2015, he was appointed a member of the ministerial committee for the establishment of the proposed Nigerian National Carrier.
