Donna Skelly, MPP
Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade
Donna Skelly is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Flamborough-Glanbrook.
As part of the new Government of Ontario, Premier Doug Ford appointed MPP Donna Skelly as the Parliamentary Assistant (PA) to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade – a strategic economic portfolio at a critical time of trade uncertainty.
In addition to other responsibilities of the portfolio, as PA for Trade, Donna is hosting a cross-province series of roundtable discussions on NAFTA and trade.
Donna entered politics after a successful 30-year career in broadcast journalism. During that time Donna produced and hosted widely-acclaimed current affairs programming and journalism. She held leadership roles including advocacy before the CRTC and Parliamentary Committees, serving as President of the Local Union for the employee bargaining unit and the founding of a leading-edge digital news property where she managed the operating budget and a staff of 10.
Donna was also a part-time instructor in the Department of Journalism at Mohawk College in Hamilton.
Elected to Hamilton City Council in March 2016, Donna quickly earned a reputation as a City Councillor for standing up for taxpayers. She asked the questions that others were afraid to ask and brought together divergent interests to work together for solutions that saved taxpayer dollars.
These are the same issues Donna will champion at Queen’s Park as part of the Doug Ford Government — respect for taxpayers’ dollars and an Ontario that is open for business so that we will be the economic engine of Canada once again.
Donna lives in Hamilton with her two sons Dane and Cole.
