Michael O. Miller joined GWI as Chief Commercial Officer, North America, in September 2010 and is responsible for all commercial functions including; industrial development, distribution services, real estate and customer service and in February of 2014, Michael was elected to the Board of Directors of Genesee & Wyoming Australia.  Before joining GWI, Michael was General Manager of Norfolk Southern’s Modalgistics Supply Chain Solutions, where he was responsible for both the day-to-day management and strategic direction of Norfolk Southern’s Modalgistics supply chain organization.  Under his leadership Modalgistics grew into a world-class multimodal business establishing long term relationships with Fortune 500 companies and creating more than $100 million per year of incremental revenue to Norfolk Southern.  Prior to Norfolk Southern Michael was Vice President Strategic Development for Derivion Corp and held numerous logistics-related positions with Georgia-Pacific and Roadway Express.

Michael graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Business Management.  His professional training includes Supply Chain Certifications from Georgia Tech and the University of Tennessee and Executive Development Programs from The Darden Business School at the University of Virginia.

Michael has served as a member of the Council for Supply Chain Management Professionals, a participant in the Atlanta Logistics Roundtable, an advisory board member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce’s Supply Chain Leadership Council, a member of the Strategic Supply Chain Management Forum, a corporate participant on the Atlanta Regional Commission and a steering committee member of the Freight Advisory Task Force.  In 2007, Michael was awarded the Atlanta Logistics Professional of Year by the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
